Scholarships, Bursaries & Awards


Summer School Bursaries                                                                                        Pat Williamson


Assistance is given annually to students of any discipline for summer study.  Applications are accepted until April 30.  Amounts given vary by grade and type of summer program.

 


Madeleine Till Student Teacher Award                                                                     Geraldine Pugh


An award open only to members of our Student Teacher Auxiliary, any discipline, and is based on the level of progress shown in a given year.  Applications are accepted until September 30.


Amount awarded:  $300 *

 


Charles Palmer Memorial Organ Award                                                                   Pat Williamson


This award is presented once every two years to a deserving organ student.  The award is based on progress shown and teacher reference. Applications are accepted until November 30.


Amount awarded:  $200 *

 

Helen Gibson Award                                                                                                  Louise Holland


The award will be given annually to a deserving student of any discipline who has completed their RCM Gr. 10 and is preparing for their ARCT performers or teachers examination.  The award will be given in November of each year, beginning in 2009. 


If there are no applicants in a given year, the award may go to a student who has completed their RCM Gr. 9 and is preparing for their Gr. 10 examination.


Applications are accepted until October 15.


Amount awarded:  $300 *

 

RCM Alumni Awards                                                                                                   Louise Holland


These awards are presented annually to the student obtaining the top marks (any discipline) for Grade 7, Grade 8 and Grade 10 RCM examinations.  Students must have also completed all theory requirements.

 

Hilda King Theory Awards                                                                                          Pat Williamson


These awards are presented annually to the students obtaining the top marks in Basic Harmony (Grade 3), Intermediate Harmony (Grade 4), History 1 (Grade 3), and History 2 (Grade 4) RCM examinations.

 


Greater Victoria Performing Arts Festival                                                                  Pat Williamson


Through the GVPAF, we annually present awards for excellence is festival classes as determined by the adjudicators.  Awards are given in piano, voice, strings, woodwinds and guitar in all levels (junior to open).  The awards are under the direction of the GVPAF scholarship chairperson.
